Emily Steps through to the Second District Final in Ipswich

Second District Final success. With winning dish!

The Rotary Young Chef Competition 2017

Emily Lee-Waller, a Year 11 student at Houghton Regis Academy, entered the Rotary Young Chef competition last year.  Having breezed through the first round, held locally at Barnfield College, Luton, she went forward to the Second District Final on Saturday 11th March 2017 in Ipswich and won.  The competition was supported by the Rotary Club of Luton Chiltern.

Emily’s dishes included chicken goujons, classic lasagne and Victoria sponge and Emily had to use a range of different skills which she has acquired through her Catering GCSE course.

We are very proud to inform you that Emily competed against approximately six thousand young chefs to get to this stage.  Although Emily did not get through to the National Final, she did win the “winning dish” award!

Emily worked hard and listened to advice from the professional chefs on how to develop her dish”.

 This menu won the winning dish.
